My passion for organizing and helping loved ones sort through the lives of those they've lost, has been a personal journey. Even in my teens I was organized, but moving over 25 times, two being cross-country, caused me to become a bit OCD in certain aspects of organization. I’ve had friends ask me to help them organize something in their home, and I discovered that helping them create organized spaces and systems, made me happy. Over the years, I learned that every person has a distinct style when it comes to setting up a living space. What calms one person's mind, may cause chaos for another. Not everything needs to be picture perfect - life gets messy, that's reality.
In 2008, I was faced with the most challenging organizing task of my life when my brother and I found ourselves navigating through my mother’s estate when she unexpectedly passed away. It was the most overwhelming experience of our lives, especially since we lived in three different states. As we pushed aside our grief to get through the seemingly endless tasks associated with liquidating and closing her estate, we were often frustrated and angered because of the lack of compassion we were faced with by people "just doing their jobs". In the end, what should have taken us weeks to handle, took us months. Thankfully, we had each other and we muddled through the best we could, given the circumstances. Because of those unsettling months, I have become devoted to helping family members who have found themselves in similar situations. I want to be the objective, reliable, trustworthy resource helping them to navigate through their journey. This is why I work one-on-one with my clients, combining their input with my experience and knowledge. At the end of the day, I want to calm their chaos, so that they have more time to enjoy their lives. ~Kristin |
